Construction Updates
May 2025
The WKHS project is moving along nicely. Almost all of the second floor has been renovated. Students and teachers have moved into the classrooms and there are only a few outstanding items. Most of the work has shifted to the site and first floor. The summer will have the majority of the first floor being renovated. About 80% of the first floor will be under construction while we are on our summer break.
The construction company has moved earth and some of the overgrowth to make way for the outdoor dining area that will extend off of the commons. The temporary earth bridge allows construction equipment to traverse the area and campus more efficiently.
The competition gym is under renovation. After the last boys home volleyball game, the construction company got to work removing the bleachers. The floor will be removed and replaced, as well.
The central hub of the school is the commons and it is the site of functions beyond where students eat their lunches. The commons will be completely renovated this summer with new flooring, cafeteria style furniture with a variety of seating options, new lighting and windows, and access to the outdoor terrace for dining.
The art/tech ed wing of the school is currently under construction and should be completed later this month (May). This is a picture of our ceramics room and it will feature multiple wheels for pottery, sinks, kilns, and other art furniture.
